GOETHE NA VILA

What ist the workshop about?
After a theoretical and practical introduction into making clay objects and using them for cooking and eating together with all participants on sunday 1st of october, participants can chose days during the coming week to participate in the production of objects around several themes:
drinking preparing, serving, cooling cafe, tea, wine, water,
cooking steaming, baking, frying, roasting, boiling,
Burning/heating fire, grill, oven, table stove, and
building components rooftiles, tiles, and bricks,
in order to host the final common dinner feast.

The different themes will be approached in one-day workshops, where we will develop shapes and patterns and form the raw clay objects.
On the following sunday 8th of october, we will conduct a first burning and blackening of the produced objects in a collective fire that will resemble a ritual performance. Participants are welcome to take part or to pass by. The whole burning and cooling down will take roughly 24 hours. In the following days we apply different firing techniques, also depending on the outcomes of the local research and possibilitys.
From Thursday evening to Saturday noon we will invite for a 3 day feast, in which we will share recipes over a hot or cold drink, cook in our pots on our stoves under our roof or under the sky. The feast will be a continuous sequence of common preparations, tasting, sharing of food, recipes and stories.

The encounters within this project happen through sharing the most normal and every day activity of cooking, while simultaneously reflecting on the role of shapes and their culturally developed appearances, the moment of creation, food ingredients and their origins, recipes and tools needed, eating habits etc. By starting to vary, improvise, to create and play with traditions, a new common place will be formed light-heartedly.

Who is invited to take part?
We wish to work with a diversity of participants from different backgrounds with different knowledge, age, skills and interests.
It would be great to have students and neighbours, musicians and cooks, professionals and amateurs among the participants.
